The 2015 Intermat edition has been for the Korean manufacturer Hyundai the opportunity to present a wide range of construction, recycling, mining and handling equipment. To highlight the occasion, Hyundai had prepared a 3,000-square metre stand for its customers, decision-makers and drivers. The French Hyundai dealers participated in this year’s Intermat as well as Hyundai teams from Korea, Europe and France. The company exhibited 29 machines, including 11 world premieres. Among the novelties, MachineryZone had a closer look at the brand new HL955 and HL960 wheel loaders!

The new generation of HL wheel loaders has been introduced as world premieres at Intermat with a completely revamped engine, bucket, cabin and design.

In order to match the latest European standards, the new loaders are equipped with Tier 4 / Stage IV compliant Cummins QSB6.7 engines. Thanks to the combination of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, the amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted by the engine could have been considerably reduced. Moreover, this technological choice allows fuel economy from 3% to 6%.

The bucket of the HL 955 has a capacity of 2.8 m³

The engine of the 15 tonne HL955, the smallest model of the HL wheel loaders range, provides power from 149 kW (200 hp), while the 18 tonne HL960 wheel loader has an output of 168 kilowatts (225 hp).

The HL955 wheel loader standard model is equipped with a 2.8 m³ bucket. The standard bucket of the HL 960 has a capacity of 3.3 m³. Ultimately, the HL range will be completed by other models with bucket capacity from 1.3 m³ to 7 m³ that will be available in Europe during this year.
As for the bucket design, Hyundai announced an enhanced fill factor, a protection device against spillage and interchangeable heel plates.

The new cabin focuses on operator safety and comfort. With greater space and larger windows, the cabin of the new series ensures better visibility of the surroundings and especially a full view of the equipment. In order to reduce the noise nuisances related to work on construction sites, Hyundai better soundproofed the cabin of the HL series. This reduces noise within the cabin from 3 to 4 decibels.

Regarding the working environment, the operator has now an electrohydraulic joystick, ergonomically integrated in the armrests. In addition, the cabin is equipped with a large 7-inch touch screen that also works without any problems when wearing gloves – a plus point that operators should appreciate during the coldest times of the year … Beyond the control of the loader, the new touch screen monitor can also be connected to a smartphone and provides data on the state of the machine, such as fluid levels.

With all these technological advances, the new HL series promises to be a key element among Hyundai loaders. This is also why Hyundai chose the new name “HL” that stands for “Hyundai Loader”. This new name will now apply to all new wheel loaders built by the Korean group and to some like the HL965, HL970, HL 975 and HL980 that will be launched soon this year.
